candidiasis hypersensitivity syndrome

Pathology: - clinical manifestations are attributed to Candida or toxins produced by Candida Clinical manifestations: 1) fatigue 2) memory loss 3) multiple somatic symptoms Notes: Patients rarely have objective evidence of candidiasis. They are frequently given yeast-free diets (free of Saccharomyces, but NOT Candida). They are frequently treated with antifungal agents. Many patients report dramatic improvement of symptoms when they follow a treatment program.
