CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP, CBF, NF-Y protein)
Function:
- DNA-binding protein that recognizes two different motifs:
a) CCAAT-box common to many promoters
b) enhanced core homology common to many enhancers
- may regulate growth arrest in differentiating cells
- different C/EBP isoforms form homodimers & heterodimers
