Brandt-Daroff exercise

Indications: - patient self treatment procedure for benign positional vertigo. Procedure: - the patient is instructed to sit on the edge of the bed & then rapidly fall into the critical lateral position to induce the vertigo - after the vertigo subsides, the patient returns to the upright position, generally experiencing a lesser episode of vertigo - these positional changes are repeated until the vertigo subsides - these sessions are repeated 3 times/day until the vertigo no longer occurs Notes: - has not been shown to be as effective as 'in-office' Epley maneuver [3]
