bowel bypass syndrome
Etiology:
- jejunoileal bypass
Epidemiology:
- occurs in 20% of patients with jejunoileal bypass
Clinical manifestations:
1) flu-like illness
a) fever
b) malaise
c) arthralgias
d) myalgias
2) inflammatory papules & pustules on the extremities & upper trunk
3) recurrent & episodic in nature
Management:
1) antibiotics
2) reversal of the bypass
