Epidemiology: - transmitted by ticks, mosquitoes - named after Bourbon County, where a Kansas farmer who died from the virus in 2014 had lived Clinical manifestations: - fever - myalgias - anorexia Laboratory: - elevated serum transaminases - completed blood count - lymphopenia* * based on 1 case Complications: - respiratory failure - renal failure - death* * based on 1 case Management: - no treatment available - prophylaxis: insect repellant
