Indications: 1) bone neoplasm 2) bone metastases 3) hypertrophic osteoarthropathy - hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy 4) osteomyelitis 5) nondisplaced bone fractures 6) reflex sympathetic dystrophy 7) Paget's disease of the bone Contraindications: - not useful for multiple myeloma (lesions often purely lytic) [1] Clinical significance: - patterns of uptake - increased uptake in skull, femur & pelvis in Paget's disease of the bone Mechanism of action: - detects osteoblastic activity [1]
