Adverse effects:
- see bismuth subsalicylate
Laboratory:
-> serum or blood bismuth levels (if toxicity suspected)
Test interactions:
- interferes with radio-contrast studies of the GI tract
Mechanism of action:
- bismuth has antimicrobial effects
