Reference interval:
- 1.3-1.7 mg/L
Increases:
1) acute leukemia
2) lymphoma with CNS involvement
3) aging [3]
Specimen:
1) centrifuge before analysis
2) analyze fresh or store at 4 degrees C for < 72 hours
3) stable frozen at -20 degrees C for 6 months, or indefinitely at -70 degrees C
4) specimens should NOT contain blood
