beta-1 adrenergic receptor; beta-1 adrenoreceptor; beta-1 adrenoceptor (ADRB1, ADRB1R, B1AR)

Function: - beta-adrenergic receptor - binds epinephrine & norepinephrine with approximately equal affinity - interacts with GOPC, MAGI3 & DLG4 - homologous desensitization of the receptor is mediated by its phosphorylation by beta-adrenergic receptor kinase Structure: - the PDZ domain-binding motif mediates competitive interactions with GOPC, MAGI3 & DLG4 & plays a role in subcellular location of the receptor - belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family Compartment: - cell membrane - localized at the plasma membrane - found in the Golgi upon GOPC overexpression Comparative-biology: - polymorphism(s) in the gene may confer tendency to fibrosis & response of myocardial tissue to beta-blockers in mice [3]
