Basophilic stippling represent multiple, punctate basophilic cytoplasmic inclusions. Clinical significance: seen in association with: 1) lead poisoning - sideroblastic anemia [2] 2) arsenic poisoning 3) thalassemia 4) myelofibrosis 5) alcohol abuse [2] Differential diagnosis: - Pappenheimer bodies (iron body)
