Pathology: 1) brainstem dysfunction 2) mortality 60-70% Clinical manifestations: 1) visual loss 2) diplopia 3) vertigo 4) ataxia 5) paresis 6) paresthesias Management: - intra-arterial vs intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase - endovascular thrombectomy: 40% of patients with modified Rankin Scale score of 0-3 at 90 days vs 23% of controls [3] - angioplasty or stenting after failed endovascular thrombectomy [3]
