Indications:
-> ulcerative colitis
Dosage: 2250 mg PO TID (3 750 mg tabs TID)
Tabs: 750 mg
Adverse effects:
- common: dyspepsia, headache, nausea, alopecia
- less common: interstitial nephritis, pericaridits, pancreatitis, hypersensitivity colitis
Mechanism of action:
-> metabolized to mesalamine in the colon
