bacitracin/neomycin/polymixin-B (Neosporin)
A combination of bacitracin + neomycin + polymixin.
Contraindications:
pregnancy-category C
safety in lactation ?
Dosage:
Topical
- Apply cream 2-5 times/day.
Ophthalmic agent:
1) ointment every 3-4 hours or BID-QID
2) 1 drop every 1-6 hours
3) duration of therapy: 7-10 days
Adverse effects:
- not common (1-10%)
- itching, erythema, edema, failure to heal, allergic contact dermatitis (neomycin is a contact sensitizer)
