Etiology: - surgery - parotidectomy most common [2] - allergy to vinegar, vinegar-containing products, & spicy food [3] Epidemiology: - rare Pathology: - nerve injury to the auriculotemporal nerve - injury to the parotid gland Clinical manifestations: - focal hyperhidrosis adjacent to ear (gustatory hyperhidrosis)* - sweating in the region of the ear after eating a lemon wedge may be diagnostic - generally develops within 1 year of surgery * image [3] Management: - symptomatic treatment - botulinum A toxin [2]
