Etiology: - cholesteoma - foreign body - inflammation - neoplasm Pathology: - growth of polyp in the external auditory canal. - may be attached to the tympanic membrane - may grow from the middle ear space Clinical manifestations: - bloody drainage from the ear - hearing loss Physical examination: - examination of the ear with otoscope Management: - general (conservative measures) - avoid water in ear - coricosporin otic - surgical polypectomy - cholesteoma - failure to respond to conservative measures
