Indication: adjunctive therapy for management of diarrhea
Dosage:
- 30 mg PO after each loose bowel movement
- up to 7 doses/day.
- 15 mL/dose if 6-12 yo
- 7.5 mL/dose if 3-5 yo.
Liquid: 600 mg/15 mL Elimination: Not absorbed.
Mechanism of action:
1) decreases intestinal motility
2) enhances absorption of intestinal fluid
3) eventually to be withdrawn from market due to lack of effectiveness [3]
