Indications: - atherosclerosis with significant obstruction of arterial lumen - peripheral arterial disease Contraindications: - carotid atherectomy has not been adequately studied [NEKM Knowledge+] Procedure: - excision/removal of atheroma from arterial wall (open vs percutaneous) - transluminal atherectomy per CPT & refs [1-3] - renal artery - abdominal aorta - brachiocephalic trunk - iliac artery - visceral artery (inferior mesenteric artery) - coronary artery - carotid artery
