Dosage: Start 50 mg PO BID/TID, max 300 mg/day.
Tabs: 25, 50, 100, 150 mg.
Pharmacokinetics:
-> metabolized to active metabolite, 8-OH amoxapine
Adverse effects:
1) tinnitus
2) blurred vision
3) confusion
4) constipation
5) urinary retention
6) arrhythmias
7) hypotension
8) parkinsonism
9) tardive dyskinesia
10) neuroleptic malignant syndrome
11) adverse effects which occur more frequently with amoxapine than other antidepressants
a) sexual dysfunction
b) gynecomastia
c) testicular swelling
d) severe, refractory seizures with overdose
12) overdose results in prolongation of the QT interval
