anti-rheumatoid arthritis-associated antigen (RANA)

Etiology: - originally found in patients with a) Sjogren's syndrome b) rheumatoid arthritis - the antigen is also detected in B cells infected with Epstein Barr virus Pathology: - nuclear distribution in a finely speckled pattern by immuno-fluorescence microscopy. Clinical significance: - anti-RANA is detected in 90% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis & in 6-25% of control subjects
