Etiology:
- exposure to coal dust
Pathology:
- deposition of coal particles in the lung
- initial (early) phase of pneumoconiosis
Clinical manifestations:
- asymptomatic
Radiology:
- chest X-ray every 5 years to assess progression
- more frequent chest rays as patients become symptomatic
Complications:
- coal miner's pneumoconiosis
