anterior interosseous nerve syndrome; Kiloh-Nevin syndrome

Etiology: - transient neuritis (most common) [1] - compression of the anterior interosseous nerve - primary nerve tumor or nerve sheath tumor - ganglion cyst - osseous spur - anatomical variants [2] - trauma to the median nerve Pathology: - damage to the anterior interosseous nerve, a motor branch of the median nerve Clinical manifestations: - pain in the forearm - weakness of the pincer movement of the thumb & index finger Special laboratory: - electromyography - abnormalities in the flexor pollicis longus, flexor digitorum profundus 1 & 2 & pronator quadratus Radiology: - ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging for suspected entrapment neuropathy Management: - surgical decompression for entrapment neuropathy
