anterior (ventral) horn of spinal cord
The ventral gray column of the spinal cord, extending from the cervical to lumbar-sacral level.
The nuclei of the anterior horn are:
1) anterolateral (ventrolateral) nucleus
2) anteromedial (ventromedial) nucleus
3) posterolateral (dorsolateral) nucleus
4) retroposterior (retrodorsal) lateral nucleus
5) posteromedial (dorsomedial) nucleus
6) central nucleus
7) accessory nucleus*
8) phrenic nucleus*
* cervical spinal cord only
