lipocortin-1; annexin-A1; ANXA1; calpactin-2; chromobindin-9; phospholipase-A2 inhibitory protein (ANXA1)

Function: - Ca+2/phospholipid-binding protein - promotes membrane fusion & is involved in exocytosis - protein regulates phospholipase A2 activity - seems to bind from 2-4 Ca+2 with high affinity - phosphorylated by protein kinase C, EGFR & TRPM7 - phosphorylation results in loss of inhibitory activity Structure: - homodimer in placenta (20%); linked by transglutamylation - a pair of annexin repeats may form one binding site for Ca+2 & phospholipid - belongs to the annexin family - contains 4 annexin repeats Compartment: - nucleus (putative), cytoplasm - cell projection, cilium (putative) - basolateral cell membrane (putative) - found in the cilium, nucleus & basolateral cell membrane of ciliated cells in the tracheal endothelium (putative) - found in the cytoplasm of type 2 pneumocytes & alveolar macrophages (putative) Laboratory: - annexin 1 Ag in tissue
