anisocoria
Unequal size of the two pupils, significant is > 1 mm difference.
Etiology:
1) Horner's syndrome on the side of the smaller pupil
- ptosis may be present
2) 3rd nerve palsy on the side of the dilated pupil
- occulomotor abnormalities are generally present
3) benign (simple) anisocoria
4) monocular pseudophakia
Clinical manifestations:
- in benign anisocoria, pupil inequality is variable
- may change from 1 hour to the next
