angina pectoris
Chest pain of cardiac origin.
Pathology:
- chest pain due to myocardial ischemia
Laboratory:
- serum lipoprotein cholesterol
- elevated (>500 mg/L) in some patients
- normal (< 300 mg/L)
Special laboratory:
- electrocardiogram
- cardiac stress testing
- stress echocardiography if dyspnea on exertion
Management:
- lipoprotein apheresis for patients with elevated serum lipoprotein cholesterol (>500 mg/L) [3]
