naratriptan (Amerge)
Tradename: Amerge. naratriptan hydrochloride:
Indications:
- migraine headache (useful for patients with frequent recurrence)
Contraindications:
1) severe renal impairment (GFR < 15 mL/min)
2) severe hepatic impairment
3) hemiplegic or basilar migraine
4) within 24 hours of ergot alkaloid
Dosage:
1) 1-2.5 mg at onset of headache
2) may repeat in 4 hours
3) max dose 5 mg/24 hours
Tabs: 1 & 2.5 mg.
Pharmacokinetics:
- longer acting than other triptans
