Amcinonide Topical
Tradename: Cyclocort.
Indications:
- short term relief of inflammation & pruritus (dermatitis)
- seborrheic dermatitis
- atopic dermatitis
- contact dermatitis
- allergies
- cutaneous T-cell lymphoma [3]
- discoid lupus
- granuloma annulare
- psoriasis
- lichen simplex chronicus [3]
Dosage:
- Topical: 0.1% cream/ointment/lotion BID/TID, high potency (0.1%).
Cream: 15 & 60 g.
Lotion: 10 & 60 mL.
Ointment: 15 & 60 g.
Adverse effects:
1) not common (1-10%)
- itching, maceration of skin, skin atrophy, erythema, dryness, papular rashes, burning, irritation
2) uncommon (< 1%)
- hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, striae, miliaria
Mechanism of action:
- anti-inflammatory; topical glucocorticoid class 3 [4]
