alpha-synuclein seed amplification assay; CSF alpha-synuclein (SYNTap test)

Indications: - investigational assay for identifying alpha-synuclein pathology in limbic cortex & neocortex (sensitivity 97.8%, specificity 98.1%) - useful for detecting lewy body dementia [1] - CSF useful for detecting Parkinson's disease - sensitivity 92.6%, specificity 90.5% [2,3] - submandibular gland tissue for detecting Parkinson's disease* - sensitivity 73.2%, specificity 78.6% [3] * only 66% of assays for Parkinson's disease were positive for both CSF & submandibular gland [3] Notes: - may be same as or component of alpha-synuclein aggregates in CSF
