Aicardi syndrome

Epidemiology:
1) affects females only
2) onset 3-5 months of age
Pathology: agenesis of corpus callosum
Clinical manifestations:
1) spasms
2) seizures
3) mental retardation
4) lesions of the retina
Management:
- anticonvulsants for seizures
Prognosis:
1) no standard treatment
2) no cure
3) some may survive into the mid twenties
