adenosine deaminase in pleural fluid
Clinical significance:
- value > 60-70 U/L highly specific for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (tuberculous pleural effusion)
- value < 40 U/L virtually excludes Mycobacterium tuberculosis (tuberculous pleural effusion) when pleural fluid lymphocytes > 75% [2]
