Adderall (dextroamphetamine/racemic amphetamine)
DEA-controlled substance: class 2.
Indications:
1) attention deficit, hyperactitivity disorder (ADHD)
2) narcolepsy
Contraindications:
pregnancy-category C
safety in lactation ?
Dosage:
1) start 2.5 mg PO QAM
2) increase by 2.5 mg weekly
3) maximum dose: 40 mg/day on BID schedule
Tabs: 10 & 20 mg (double scored)
Adderall XR: (once a day) 10, 20, 30 mg.
Pharmacokinetics: elimination: liver
Adverse effects:
- sudden death in pediatric patients taking Adderall XR [3]
