acute functional psychosis (AFP)

Clinical manifestations: 1) sudden onset 2) stable course over 24 hours 3) clear consciousness 4) variable attention deficit disorder 5) variable cognition impairment 6) hallucinations are predominantly auditory hallucinations 7) delusions are sustained & systematized 8) variable impairment of orientation 9) variable psychomotor activity, from retarded to severely hyperactive 10) variable speech patterns 11) involuntary movements are usually absent 12) generally no physical illness or drug toxicity
