acute eosinophilic leukemia
Epidemiology: rare
Genetics:
- t(8;9)(p22;p24) involving JAK2 with PCM1 are found in both chronic & acute forms of eosinophilic, lymphoblastic & myeloid leukemia
- translocation links the protein kinase domain of JAK2 to PCM1
- t(5;12)(q31;p13) involving ETV6 with ACSL6
Laboratory:
1) complete blood count (CBC): marked eosinophilia
2) peripheral smear: dysplastic eosinophils
3) bone marrow biopsy: increased blasts
