captopril scan; ACE inhibitor renography; renal scintigraphy

Indications: - renal artery stenosis Principle: - radionuclide scintigraphy of the kidneys to assess renal perfusion with & without captopril or some other ACE inhibitor - Hippuran, Tc-DPTA, or Tc-MAG3 are agents used for renography Methods: - sensitivity for detecting renal artery stenosis is 92% - it is less sensitive in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or azotemia
