ABO blood group locus

Structure: - blood group ABO involves three carbohydrate antigens: A,B, & H - A, B, & AB individuals express a glycosyltransferase activity that converts the H antigen to the A antigen (by addition of UDP-galNAc) or to the B antigen (by addition of UDP-gal), whereas O individuals lack such activity Pathology: - ABO blood type: AB (1.23), B (1.15), & A (1.08), (risk relative to those with type O blood) [2]
