- ascites
- abdominal trauma
- cholelithiasis
- abnormal liver function tests
- hepatic abscess
- renal failure
- fever of unknown origin
- autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease [3]
Contraindications:
- obesity or excess intestinal gas markedly interfere with abdominal imaging by ultrasonography [2]
